Biography

Band Director - Lake Elkhorn MS
Director of Athletic Bands - UMBC
Brass/Woodwinds Faculty - Roberson School of Music, International School of Music, Music & Arts
I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and currently live in Maryland. During my time in Nevada,  I played trumpet with the Las Vegas Youth Philharmonic, which toured China in 2011. In 2012, I graduated from Valley High School, after performing with the Honors Performance Series Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. Upon graduation, I moved to Maryland after being accepted to the Music Education program at UMBC, where I would spend the next 5 years figuring out my place in the world.
During my time at UMBC, I found myself not only developing my artistry as a musician and music educator, but my capabilities as a leader. I spent 5 years being actively involved with the UMBC Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, along with some time spent with the UMBC Pep Band and Jazz Ensemble. I had the privilege of working with talented students in the Baltimore area through the El Sistema driven  Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's OrchKids Program, as well as with various other schools in the state. Through my teachings, I recognized the power that music has to not only make someone a great musician, but the potential to create an empathetic leader who brings about positive civic change in a community.

After recognizing this, I began to seek out opportunities to develop my own leadership within the UMBC community. Through various opportunities to facilitate, educate, and advise students, I built up my rapport and confidence within the community, and made the decision to run and win the position of President of the Student Government Association. This role allowed me to advise and consult hundreds of students on civic engagement practices and helped me connect members of my community together to resources and other people who could help make their visions reach fruition, and upon graduating, it inspired be to become a Leadership Consultant with my National Fraternity Pi Kappa Phi.

During my time with Pi Kappa Phi, I worked directly with 25 chapters across the country on organizational and leadership development, but continued to pursue an abundance of musical based experiences. I attended dozens of amazing concerts and met many musicians who I not only learned from, but who learned from me as well. I had the incredible opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall again through the
Honors Performance Series, and later in Schladming, Austria, with the
World Adult Wind Orchestra Project.

After my time with Pi Kappa Phi, I returned to academia and pursued my Master of Arts in Teaching back at UMBC, where I was a Graduate Assistant for Fraternity & Sorority Life. I returned to the UMBC Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, and taught secondary band in Howard County and Baltimore County, until I graduated with honors with my M.A.T.
